Hawaii County is developing an Integrated Climate Action Plan to identify how to address climate change causes and impacts to Hawaii Island. The goal is to create a Climate Action Plan grounded in equity and includes strategies that will help stop what is causing climate change and survive and minimize its effects.

The county said the survey is the first step in a more extensive process to broadly engage communities, specifically vulnerable communities, in developing this plan.

The county said the survey will help officials better understand communities’ points of view on climate change to inform future engagement opportunities. This survey will also give the county a better understanding of how effective outreach efforts are and where improvement is needed to ensure that perspectives of under-represented communities are included.

The next step in the planning process is to work with communities to identify values, actions, and implementation strategies that make sense for Hawaii Island.

The survey, which takes about 10 to 15 minutes to complete, can be accessed at https://forms.gle/xcwkTmpd1njZrmmM6.
